The Star Bundle Subscription

  1. Subscription

The Star Bundle is a subscription package consisting of The Star newspaper, The Star ePaper and 4 Regional ePapers. The Star ePaper is a digital replica of The Star newspaper and the 4 Regional ePapers are The Jakarta Post, The Nation, The Philippine Daily Inquirer and China Daily Asia Weekly. The Star Bundle subscription entitles you to delivery notes which you must provide/furnish the same to the newspaper vendor who delivers The Star newspaper to you at the end of each month.

You will be provided with one user account to access to The Star ePaper and the 4 Regional ePapers.

The Star Bundle subscription is not transferable to any third party and the delivery notes for The Star newspaper must be used concurrently with The Star ePaper by the same subscriber.

  1. Availability

The Star Bundle is available at the prevailing prices whereby the delivery address for The Star newspaper must be a West Malaysian address.

Bundle subscriptions are not available for East Malaysian subscribers.

We reserve the absolute right to: –

  • change our prices and/or withdraw the subscription package at any time, without the need to inform you prior to such a change and/or withdrawal, as the case may be.
  • upgrade or remove any of the features of The Star Bundle. No refund or discount will be given to you should you decide not to take up any of the upgraded features or upon the removal of any of the existing features of The Star Bundle
  • withdraw any section(s)/title(s)/page(s) of The Star newspaper and The Star ePaper in the bundle subscription at any time as we deem fit without prior notification. No refund or discount will be available in the event of such withdrawal.

Subscription that has been paid in full shall not be affected by the change of subscription price unless due to our inability to fulfill our subscription offer or under exceptional conditions not within our reasonable control. In these cases, the provision under section 7 shall apply.

  1. Payment and Processing

You can subscribe The Star Bundle from Newsstand  or, simply fill up a subscription form which is available at our main and regional offices. To facilitate the subscription, you undertake to provide complete and accurate information required by us.

For subscription through Newsstand, you can pay by credit card, e-banking or e-wallet.

For subscription using the manual subscription form, you can pay by cash, credit card or cheque made payable to STAR MEDIA GROUP BERHAD. Your payment shall be construed as an offer to purchase The Star Bundle. The sale of the subscription is deemed completed and accepted once your subscription together with payment is successfully processed.

Upon successful processing of your subscription, we will notify you by letter and email which will specify your subscription period (i.e. commencement date and expiry date). For details of subscription package, please log in to Newsstand > my account or call our Customer Service Hotline at 1 300 88 7827 (STAR).

  1. Delivery Note

Subject to Section 5 hereof, we will assign newspaper vendor to deliver The Star newspaper to you. We will send all 12pcs of the monthly delivery note(s) to you within three (3) weeks from the commencement date of your newspaper delivery. The delivery note shall be invalid upon the expiration of the validity period specified in the said delivery note(s). This delivery note system is only applicable to subscribers from West Malaysia.

Lost and/or misplaced of delivery note(s) must be informed to us in writing. An administrative fee of RM50 will be charged  if you request for replacement of delivery note(s).

  1. Delivery

5.1. The Star newspaper

  • Please allow 10 working days for us to process your subscription.
  • Delivery of the newspaper to new subscribers shall commence from the first day of the month, depending on the date when your form is received by us. For example, if your subscription form is received before/on 15 June, you will receive The Star newspaper from 1 July; if your subscription form is received after 15 June, you will receive The Star newspaper from 1 August.
  • It shall be deemed that the newspapers have been duly delivered to you if there is no report of any losses within two (2) working days from the date of delivery.
  • You shall be required to pay a monthly delivery fee to the appointed vendor. Each delivery fee is for one (1) subscription only (individual/ corporate). In the event that more than one subscription is delivered to the same delivery address, the delivery fee shall be mutually agreed upon between yourself and the delivering vendor.Request for a change of delivery address shall be subjected to our prior approval. You shall submit your request in writing stating your reason(s) for the change of address.Once your request is accepted, we will inform you in writing and the delivery of the newspaper to the new address will take effect from the 1st day of the following month.
    In relation to the subscription in bulk by a corporate subscriber, we will only deliver The Star newspaper to one of the corporate address provided in the subscription form.

5.2. The Star ePaper

  • The Star ePaper is hosted by PressReader, Inc. You can start accessing ePaper once your ePaper account has been successfully set up and you will receive the ePaper password within 3 working days after we have completed processing your subscription and payment.

  1. Renewal

You may opt for auto-renewal where your subscription will be renewed on a yearly basis. This will save you a lot of effort and hassle. To learn more about auto-renewal, click here.

The Star Bundle subscription will not be automatically renewed unless you have opted for auto-renewal. We will send you three (3) renewal notices by post, e-mail and SMS based on the contact information provided in the current subscription form 3 months, 2 months and 1 month respectively prior to the expiration of your current subscription package. We will advise you of the changes to the subscription package, if any, in the renewal notice.

6.1 The Star Bundle/ The Star Corporate Bundle

  • You are entitled to the pricing stated in the renewal notice sent to you. The renewal pricing is only valid up to one year from the expiry date of your last subscription PROVIDED ALWAYS THAT there is no change of subscription price within such prescribed period. In the event of change of subscription price, the renewal pricing offered herein will be updated accordingly.

6.1.2 Renewal Payment and Processing

  • You can renew your subscription through Newsstandor alternatively, you may request for a renewal form by sending an email to customerservice@thestar.com.my or call 1-300-88-7827.
  • Refer to the provisions under Section 3 for payment and processing procedures.

6.1.3 Renewal Delivery

  • Please allow ten (10) working days to process your renewal application for the arrangement of delivery of The Star newspaper.

6.1.4 Renewal Closing Dates

I f your subscription expires on 30th June, and your renewal application is received by us before/on 20th June, your subscription will continue from 1st July and The Star newspaper will be delivered to you from 1st July onwards. If your renewal application is received after 20th June, your subscription will only commence from 1st August and we will only deliver The Star newspaper to you from 1st August onwards.

However, you can continue reading TheStar ePaper as your ePaper account will be activated within three (3) working days from the date of receipt of your renewal application.

6.2.4 Renewal Closing Dates

I f your subscription expires on 30th June, and your renewal application is received by us before/on 20th June, your subscription will continue from 1st July and The Star newspaper will be delivered to you from 1st July onwards. If your renewal application is received after 20th June, your subscription will only commence from 1st August and we will only deliver The Star newspaper to you from 1st August onwards.

However, you can continue reading TheStar ePaper as your ePaper account will be activated within three (3) working days from the date of receipt of your renewal application.

We reserve the absolute right to revise our pricing and/or to withdraw the renewal packages promotion at any time, without the need to inform you prior to such a change and/or withdrawal, as the case may be.

  1. Cancellation and Refund

7.1. Cancellation

Subscription fee paid is for the full duration of your subscription. No cancellation or early termination or changing of subscription package of The Star Bundle subscription is allowed.

For auto-renewal, there will be no refunds or cancellations after the card has been charged. To deactivate auto-renewal, please go to your Newsstand account and deactivate auto-renewal. Your subscription will not be automatically renewed after the current one expires.

7.2. Refund

  • Refunds are strictly prohibited.
  • Refund may be allowed at our sole discretion if: –

  1. we are unable to appoint a newspaper vendor to fulfill your subscription; or
  2. in exceptional circumstances, of which we will review on a case by case basis.

In the event of refund where you have received delivery notes from us, you must return the unexpired delivery notes to us in exchange for the refund and we will impose RM20 administrative charge for all refund cases. You are responsible for the delivery and postal charges to the address stated in Section 9. Proof of postage shall not constitute proof of receipt by us.

Responsibility and LiabilityYou agree that we are not responsible for any failure by us to perform our obligation to you in relation to your subscription where such failure is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control and that we shall not be liable for any loss suffered by you directly or indirectly, in relation to your subscription.

Your use of The Star ePaper (including the 4 Regional ePapers i.e. The Jakarta Post, The Nation, The Philippine Daily Inquirer and China Daily Asia Weekly) shall also be governed by PressReader’s Terms of Use Agreement and Service Privacy Policy. In the event of any inconsistencies between PressReader’s Term of Use Policy and/or Service Privacy Policy with the Terms and Conditions contained herein, our  Terms and Conditions shall prevail.   1. Availability

Star ePaper is available to everyone save and except for subscribers from China, North Korea and Zimbabwe.
We reserve the absolute right to:

  • approve or reject your subscription request.
  • upgrade or remove any of the features of Star ePaper.
  • withdraw any section(s)/title(s)/page(s) of Star ePaper without prior notification.

The subscription is not transferable to any third party.

  1. Payment and Processing

  • We are not responsible for the Internet browsing charges and all related charges incurred by you for the usage of Star ePaper.
  • Payment can be made online, cash payment, cheque/mail/postal order.
  • Proof of payment made is not a proof of receipt and we will not be held responsible in the event that the money is missing in transit.
  • Star ePaper is hosted by PressReader, Inc. You can start accessing the ePaper once your ePaper account has been successfully set up and you will receive the ePaper password within 3 working days after we have completed processing your subscription and payment.

  • You shall not and will not allow, any third parties make, distribute and/or resell copies of the Star ePaper, attempt to copy, reproduce, alter, modify, transfer, exchange or translate the application, and/or create derivative works of the application of any kind whatsoever.
  • We reserve the right to restrict, impose limitation, discontinue or change any aspect of the Star ePaper , including but not limited to content and subscription plans from time to time.
  • We reserve the right to immediately terminate your access to Star ePaper in the event you breach any of the term and condition contained herein.
  • We reserve the absolute right to amend any term and condition contained herein at any time without prior notification.
  • You agree that we shall not be held responsible in whatsoever way for any failure to perform any of our obligation herein for the provision of the Star ePapersubscription in the event such failure is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control and that we shall not be liable for any loss suffered by you directly or indirectly, in relation to your subscription.

Complimentary ePaper Subscription

  1. Subscription

Complimentary ePaper Package is a complimentary subscription made available to everyone during promotions. Complimentary ePaper Package consists of The Star ePaper, which is a digital replica of The Star newspaper together with 4 other Regional ePapers, i.e.: The Jakarta Post, The Nation, The Philippine Daily Inquirer and China Daily Asia Weekly (collectively,  “Complimentary ePaper”).

You will be provided with one (1) user account to access to The Star ePaper and the other 4 Regional ePapers.

  1. Availability

The subscription forms for Complimentary ePaper Package are only available in road shows/ exhibitions or redemption links from partners. Kindly note that the trial period for Complimentary ePaper  Package may vary from time to time depending on the offer made by the collaborative partners.
We reserve the absolute right to: –

  • alter the trial period without prior notification.
  • approve or reject your request to access Complimentary ePaper Package .
  • upgrade or remove any of the features of the Complimentary ePaper Package.

Each person is only entitled to one (1) Complimentary ePaper Package

You are not allowed to register/activate the access to Complimentary ePaper Package for third party unless otherwise approved by us in advance.

The subscription is not transferable to any third party.

The Complimentary ePaper Package is not applicable to active/current subscribers under the same e-mail address.

  1. Payment and Processing

Please note that the Complimentary ePaper Package is absolutely free during the trial period. However, we shall not be held responsible for the Internet browsing charges and other related charges incurred for the usage of this Complimentary ePaper Package.

Only completed and legible registration forms received from the road shows, exhibitions or via redemption link will be accepted. In the event that your form is incomplete and/or illegible, it will be automatically voided and that your registration will be deemed unsuccessful. There will be no notification to unsuccessful registrants.

  1. Delivery

Activation of ePaper account will take a minimum of 5 to 7 working days..

Any request from subscribers for extension of the redemption/ trial period will not be entertained under normal circumstances.

The Star & Sin Chew ePaper Subscription

  1. Subscription

The Star-Sin Chew ePaper package is a subscription package consisting of Sin Chew ePaper, The Star ePaper and the other 4 Regional ePapers, i.e.: The Jakarta Post, The Nation,The Philippine Daily Inquirer and China Daily Asia Weekly (collectively referred to as the “Regional ePapers”). The subscription is not transferable to any third party.

For West Malaysia, subscribers will receive full edition of The Star ePaper and the 4 Regional ePapers.

For East Malaysia, subscribers are entitled to download the following sections of The Star ePaper: Main, Metro Sarawak, Star2, StarBiz and SME. You can view the sections that are not available in the app but will not be able to download.

The Star ePaper and the Regional ePapers must be accessed through the Star ePaper app or the Star’s website.  The Sin Chew ePaper must be accessed through the Sin Chew ePaper app.

The Star will provide you with one user account to access The Star and the 4 Regional ePapers via the Star ePaper app and/or Star’s website.

Sin Chew will provide you with one user account to access the Sin Chew ePaper via the Sin Chew ePaper app and website.

  1. Undertaking of Responsibility

You are advised that the use of Sin Chew ePaper is governed by [Terms of Use] of  Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad.  You are advised to contact Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad directly in relation to the use of Sin Chew ePaper.

You can subscribe to The Star & Sin Chew ePaper package from Newsstand or fill up a subscription form, available at our main and regional offices. To facilitate the subscription, you undertake to provide complete and accurate information required by us.

  • For subscription using the form, you can pay by cash, credit card or cheque made payable to STAR MEDIA GROUP BERHAD. Your payment shall be construed as an offer to purchase The Star & Sin Chew ePaper package. Upon successful processing of your subscription, we will send you a letter via snail mail and email. The letter will specify your subscription period (i.e. commencement date and expiry date). For details of your subscription package, please log in to Newsstand > my account.

Please be informed that the commencement dates for your Star ePaper (inclusive of Regional ePapers) and Sin Chew ePaper may not be the same. We will inform you of the commencement date for the Star ePaper (inclusive of Regional ePapers). For the Sin Chew ePaper commencement, Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad will advise you accordingly.

  1. The Star ePaper & Sin Chew ePaper Password

5.1 The Star ePaper

You can start accessing The Star ePaper and the other 4 Regional ePapers once your The  Star ePaper account has been successfully set up. You will receive The Star ePaper password within 5 working days upon successful processing of your subscription and payment.

5.2 Sin Chew ePaper

You will receive your Sin Chew ePaper password from Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad  directly.

  1. Renewal

The Star & Sin Chew ePaper package will not be automatically renewed at the end of the subscription period.  We will send you a renewal notice at the end of the subscription period.

We will advise you of the changes to the subscription plan, if any, in the renewal notice.

6.1. Renewal Payment and Processing

The Star & Sinar ePaper Subscription

  1. Subscription

The Star-Sinar ePaper package is a subscription package together with Sinar Harian ePaper, The Star ePaper and 4 Regional ePapers i.e. The Jakarta Post, The Nation and The Philippine Daily Inquirer and China Daily Asia Weekly (collectively referred to as the “Regional ePapers”). The subscription is not transferable to any third party.

The Sinar Harian ePaper in this package is the Central edition only. For access to other editions, please contact Sinar Harian customer service at 03-5101 7509 or email support.my@ookbee.com.

The Star ePaper and the Regional ePapers must be accessed through the Star ePaper app or the Star’s website.  The Sinar Harian ePaper must be accessed through the Sinar ePaper app.

The Star will provide you with one user account to access The Star and the 4 Regional ePapers via the Star ePaper app and/or Star’s website.

Sinar Harian will provide you with one user account to access the Sinar ePaper via the Sinar ePaper app and website.

  1. Availability

The Star & Sinar Harian ePaper package is available at the prevailing prices.

We reserve the absolute right to: –

  • revise prices and/or withdraw the subscription package at any time, without the need to inform you prior to such a change and/or withdrawal, as the case may be.
  • upgrade or remove any of the features of The Star & Sinar Harian ePaper package. No refund or discount will be given to you should you decide not to take up any of the upgraded features or upon the removal of any of the existing features of The Star & Sinar Harian ePaper.
  • withdraw any section(s)/title(s)/page(s) of The Star & Sinar ePaper at any time as we deem fit without prior notification. No refund or discount will be available in the event of such withdrawal.
  • Subscription that has been paid in full shall not be affected by the change except when due to our inability to fulfil our subscription offer or under exceptional conditions not within our reasonable control. In these cases, the provisions under section 7 shall apply.

  1. Payment and Processing

You can subscribe to The Star & Sinar Harian ePaper from Newsstand or fill up a subscription form, available at our main and regional offices. To facilitate the subscription, you undertake to provide complete and accurate information required by us.

  • For subscription through Newsstand, you can pay by credit card, e-banking or e-wallet.
  • For subscription using the form, you can pay by cash, credit card or cheque made payable to STAR MEDIA GROUP BERHAD. Your payment shall be construed as an offer to purchase The Star & Sinar Harian ePaper package. The sale of the subscription is deemed completed and accepted once your subscription together with payment is successfully processed.

Upon successful processing of your subscription, we will send you a letter via snail mail and email. The letter will specify your subscription period (i.e. commencement date and expiry date). For details of subscription package, please log in to Newsstand > my account.

Please be informed that the commencement dates for your Star ePaper (inclusive of Regional ePapers) and Sinar Harian ePaper may not be the same. The Star will inform you of the commencement date for the Star ePaper (inclusive of Regional ePapers). For the Sinar Harian ePaper commencement, Sinar Karangkraf Sdn Bhd will advise you accordingly.

  1. The Star ePaper & Sinar Harian ePaper Password

5.1 The Star ePaper

You can start accessing the Star ePaper, the Regional ePapers once your ePaper account has been successfully set up. You will receive the ePaper password within 5 working days after we have completed processing your subscription and payment.

5.2 Sinar Harian ePaper

You will receive your ePaper password for the Sinar Harian ePaper from Sinar Karangkraf Sdn Bhd within 5 working days.

  1. Renewal

The Star & Sinar Harian ePaper subscription is not automatically renewed at the end of the subscription period.  We will send you a renewal notice at the end of the subscription period.

We will advise you of the changes to the subscription plan, if any, in the renewal notice.

For hassle-free renewal, you may opt-in for auto-renewal of your subscription.

6.1. Renewal Payment and Processing

  1. Responsibility and Liability

You agree that we are not responsible for any failure by us to perform our obligation to you in relation to your subscription where such failure is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control and that we shall not be liable for any loss suffered by you directly or indirectly, in relation to your subscription.

Your use of The Star (including the Regional ePapers) shall also be governed by PressReader’s Terms of Use Agreement and Service Privacy Policy. Magazine Subscription

By ordering/subscribing to the magazine(s), you agree that you have read, understand and accept the terms and conditions below. If you do not agree with any part of these terms and conditions, please do not order/subscribe or alternatively, you may contact our toll free number, 1-300-88-7827 or email us at customerservice@thestar.com.my for further clarification.

  • When you order/subscribe the magazine(s), you are making an offer to order/subscribe, which if accepted by us, will result in a binding contract. We reserve the right not to accept or process your order/subscription without reason.
  • Kindly fill in the form available here and to furnish your full address and contact number to facilitate shipment.
  • Request for the change of shipping address and/or particulars of order/subscription shall be made within five (5) working days from the date of your order/subscription (“Grace Period”). Any amendment after the Grace Period will not be entertained. Difference in payment, if any, should be remitted to us based on the changes made by you within five (5) working days.
  • We require four (4) to six (6) weeks to process your order/subscription and to deliver the same to your shipping address. We shall not be held responsible for failure or delay to deliver the magazine(s) if you have supplied us with an incorrect shipping address.
  • It shall be deemed that the magazine(s) have been duly delivered to you if there is no report to any losses and/or damages within seven (7) days from date of delivery (“Report”). We shall replace magazine(s) that are lost and/or damaged due to shipment within two (2) weeks from the date of the Report. In the case of damaged copy, the copy should be returned to us as proof.

We reserve the absolute discretion to approve or reject your request for cancellation. Notwithstanding anything stated to the contrary, no cancellation will be entertained once your magazine(s) have been shipped to your shipping address.
  • The price of the magazine(s) displayed is excluding additional delivery costs and taxes imposed by the respective authorities which shall be borne by you separately.
  • If your order/subscription contains a supplemental gift, such gift will be delivered to your shipping address within two (2) months from the date of first delivery of your magazine(s) or such other longer delivery period as we deem fit and appropriate. You are obliged to take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety standards and the general appropriateness of the supplemental gift offered to you. You shall exercise due diligence and care when using the supplemental gift for yourself and/or any third party and to the extent permitted by laws, you shall release from and indemnify us against all liability, cost, loss and/or expenses arising out of your use of any of the supplemental gift including (but not limited to) loss of income, loss of opportunity, personal injury and damage to your property, whether direct or consequential or foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise.
  • Supplemental gift is not exchangeable for cash consideration.   3. As long as you have an active The Star subscription account with the Organiser, you will get updates on the Promotion via email, SMS and/or postal service. Once your subscription has expired or has been terminated you will no longer be able to receive these updates.  We therefore encourage to continue with your subscription.
  4. You may only be able to redeem the deals via email.  Please note that you are encouraged to check and update your particulars regularly at newsstand.thestar.com.
  5. The Organiser will not be responsible if you did not receive any promotional deal due to wrong personal information provided during subscription application and/or your failure to update your particulars with the Organiser.
  6. You expressly agree that the Organiser shall not be held responsible for our partner(s) failure to perform their respective obligation(s) to you in relation to your redemption and the Organiser shall not be held liable for any loss suffered by you directly or indirectly, in relation to your redemption of the deal.

By participating in the deal, you acknowledge and agree that the Organiser excludes all warranty and/or liability in connection with the deal and/or the Promotion. By accepting and redeeming the deal offered, you hereby agree and confirm that you have read and understood the respective terms and conditions that comes with each deal.

No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from the Organiser or its employees, shall create any warranty on the deal offered by the respective partner(s) under the Promotion.

You must evaluate and bear all risks associated with the use of any partner’s website. You shall take full responsibility for any damage or loss of data on YOUR computer system caused by your decision to download any information pursuant thereto.

The Organiser reserves the right to suspend or terminate the Promotion without prior notice when deemed necessary.

PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING STATEMENT RELATING TO PARTICIPANT (this “Notice”) IN ACCORDANCE WITH PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION ACT, 2010 (“PDPA”) AND PUBLICITY

The PDPA governs the processing of the your personal data (“Personal Data”) by the Organiser. This Notice is issued to inform you that this is the basis upon which the processing of your Personal Data is done by the Organiser.

Purpose: All information (including Personal Data) submitted by you in your participation of the Promotion shall belong to the Organiser and you irrevocably and unconditionally consent and permit the Organiser to use, publish or feature you and/or your pictures (which may include your name, statements about the Promotion or any of its related matter) without further notice or compensation for publicity, advertising or any other related purposes in any manner whatsoever, including but not limited to in any of the Organiser’s publications, websites and/or any promotional materials connected to the Promotion.
