Your Newsstand Account

If you are our existing subscriber, please use the ID and password provided to you via email. If you are new to newsstand, please register as new and follow the instruction given.

You can key in your Account ID (email) and click forget password. An email link will be sent to your newsstand email to change password.

  • Click “FACEBOOK/ GOOGLE” under “Login”.
  • Key in your Facebook/ Google details (only need to do once)
  • Key in your existing Newsstand ID and Password to link your account.
  • If you do not have a Newsstand ID and Password, key in your details under “Create Newsstand Account” to register and connect.
  • Log in at newsstand
  • Go to My account, my profile
  • Click edit under delivery details
  • Please allow at least 10 working days for us to source for a new vendor.
  • The delivery shall commence on the 1st of the following month depending on the date the request is made.

Purchase or Renew

  • Log-in or register at Newstand
  • Choosing a product
    1. Select a subscription under products
    2. You can continue shopping, add more items to cart, add quantity and check-out. You have the option to opt in or out for auto- renewal.
    3. Please key in your preferred email for ePaper when requested
    4. We will prompt you to log-in or register if you have not log in
  • Subscriber details and Shipping details Key in your personal details and the shipping address for the product to be delivered.
  • Payment Methods
    1. Choose your payment method (please refer to payment options) and click confirm
    2. Fill up the required fields
    3. After the payment transaction is complete, receipt will pop up for you to print or save (for recording purpose)
  • Transaction Status
    1. To check status, you can go to “My subscriptions” under “My Account”.
    2. Once subscription is comfirm, click on “Manage Epaper Access” to change or add emails if you subscribe more than 1 Star Bundle or ePaper standalone.
    3. If subscription is still pending after 2 working days, kindly call our Customer Care at 1300-88-7827 for enquiries.
  • Log in and go to “My Subscriptions” under “My Account”
  • Click on the “Renew” button the subscription that you wish to renew
  • Select a package, you may add but cannot reduce the quantity of the subscription that you renewed
    1. Proceed to payment
    2. You may return to check your subscription status and ‘Manage ePaper Access ‘after 1 working days

Please take not that delivery address will be the same as the subscription that you renewed.

You may opt in for Auto renewal when you select the package for or login to your Newsstand account, go to the My Account page and opt-in for Auto Renewal. For more information, click here.

We will not entertain any request for refund if you have subscribed to the wrong package.

Yes, you are eligible for the Individual Lifestyle Tax Reliefs as per the latest guidelines updated by the Inland Revenue Board on the subscription of newspapers and magazines. This is subject to acceptance by the authorities.

Subscription Status

“Pending” means we have received your order and we are processing your subscription. You will be able to add emails if you purchase more than 1 Star Bundle after 1 working day from the date you purchased.

We are in the process of vendor sourcing. We need at least 10 working days to process and to commence your subscription.

Please take note that commence date will always start on the 1st of the month.

Login to your Newsstand account and go to the My Account > My Transaction page. You will be able to check if you have set auto-renewal.

  2. You can also visit any of our roadshows. The Star organizes roadshows periodically which are advertised in our publication.

Yes. Inform your vendor that you wish to subscribe to The Star and they will provide you with the details.

Subscription Status

Please allow 10 working days for your form to be processed. A notification stating your subscription and commencement dates will be sent to you. Your newspaper delivery will commence on the 1st of the month, depending on the date your subscription form is received.

Example:
If your form is received before 15th Sept, your Bundle commencement date will be 1st Oct. If your form is received on/after 15th Sept, your Bundle commencement date will be 1st Nov.

The ePaper is complimentary and available for access 3 working days after your application is processed. Your subscription will official commence on the date described above.

Fulfilment is subject to availability of newspaper vendor.

Please continue to pay your newspaper vendor by cash to ensure uninterrupted newspaper delivery, as subscription will commence on the 1st of the month. A notification will be sent to you via letter and email.

Access to the ePaper is complimentary before the first newspaper delivery. It expires on the same date as your final Star Bundle newspaper delivery for your latest transaction.

A confirmation email will be sent to you from newsstand@thestar.my within an hour after the registration process is successful. Please check both your Inbox and Spam folders. If your confirmation email isn’t found, please contact Customer Service at 1300 88 7827.

Login to your Newsstand account and go to the My Account > My Transaction page. You will be able to check if you have set auto-renewal.

After your payment is successful, the tax invoice will be automatically emailed to you. If you have missed the email, you can get it from your Newsstand account. Please follow these steps:

  • Login to your Newsstand account.
  • Click on ‘My Transactions’.
  • Click on ‘Tax Invoice’.

Renewal

Log in here and click on My Account>My Subscriptions. Select your product due for renewal, then click the renew button.

Call Customer Service at 1300 88 7827 (STAR) and they will provide you with options based on your needs.

Yes, you may. When you switch packages, you will need to pay the full pricing. The new subscription will commence upon the expiry of your current package.

We recommend that you inform us at least 14 days in advance. We will attempt to find a new vendor for your new area. Please be advised that any paper delivery changes will take place on the 1st of the following month provided the 14 processing days does not include the following month. If the 14 days overlap the following month, then the change shall take place on the month after that.

Please allow at least 7 working days from the receipt date of your renewal application before your subscription resumes.

The Star ePaper
Your ePaper account will be activated within 2 working days from the receipt date of your renewal application.

It is recommended to renew your subscription 2 weeks before expiry to avoid disruption to the newspaper and ePaper delivery.

Login to your Newsstand account, go to the My Account>My Transaction page and opt-in for Auto Renewal. For more information, click here.

Newspaper Delivery, Vendor & Delivery Notes

A delivery note is a payment to the newspaper vendor at the end of every month in exchange for newspapers.

For a 1 year subscription/renewal, a set of 12 delivery notes will be sent to you. For a 2 year subscription/renewal, you will receive 2 sets of vouchers.

We do not recommend passing the entire set of payment vouchers to the vendor at one go.

The delivery note(s) should arrive via courier by the third week after your subscription commences.

Please contact our Customer Service. An administration fee will be charged for CN or replacement of delivery note(s).

No. Please pay directly to your newspaper vendor. Fees range from: RM2 – RM10 / month – Peninsular Malaysia RM2 – RM10 / month – Sarawak RM5 – RM15 / month – Sabah

No. Do notify us if you are overseas so we can donate your newspaper issues to charity organisations. You may, however, access the ePaper wherever you are.

You will receive delivery notes 2 – 3 weeks after commencement, depending on your area. If you still have not received your notes after a full 4 weeks after commencement, kindly contact Customer Service for assistance.

Mobile (iOS & Android)
Download ‘The Star ePaper’ app from your app store and authorise your device in the app with your username and password.

Yes. You can have simultaneous access to 2 mobile devices and 1 web login at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper.

First, de-authorise your old device. Log in to your account at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper.and click on My Account>Press Reader to de-authorise your old device.

Then, download The Star ePaper app to your new device and authorise it using your username and password.

Your device must be connected to the internet if you are browsing the ePaper via web browser.

If you’re reading your ePaper from your app, internet connection is only required during the downloading of issues, using audio reader and sharing article. Once download is complete, you can read the ePaper offline.

The download duration will depend on your broadband connection speed. As a guide, a high speed broadband with 5Mbps will take less than 5 minutes to completely download the ePaper.

Yes. You can access between 7 and 60 past issues, depending on your subscription package.

You can reset your password at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper. Instructions will be sent to your registered email address to reset your password upon submitting the required information.

As long as you have an active data connection, you can access your ePaper from anywhere in the world.

The download duration will depend on your broadband connection speed. If your download is incomplete or terminated, tap on the same issue of the newspaper to resume download. If the download does not resume, please delete the issue and re-download it.

De-authorise your unused device. Log in to your account at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, and go to My Account>Press Reader, to de-authorise your unused device. Then, authorise your account with your preferred device.

If you did not receive the email, please check your Spam folder just in case the confirmation email is redirected.

To prevent the email from going into your Spam folder, please add the sender into your contacts.

Cancellation & Refund

Please confirm with your vendor the number of day(s) of non-delivery to receive an immediate cash refund from the vendor at the end of the month.

No. There will be no refund for early termination or cancellation.

No. There will be no changing of subscription package until your current subscription expires.

How to Sign-up and Make Payment

Kindly refer to the eDM/leaflet/advertisements/newspaper agents for more information on the packages. The subscription method is slightly different.

  • Newsstand on the special link provided that takes approximately 3 working days to process.
  • Subscribe manually via your Newspaper Agent that takes approximately 7 working days to process.
  • Roadshow that takes approximately 7 working days to process.

Click newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper to sign up for immediate access or at Newsstand but you will have to wait for 3 working days to get the username and password.

We accept cash, cheque and credit card. For payment via cash/cheque, please contact our Customer Service at 1300 88 7827. An administrative fee of RM20 will be charged. For payment via credit card, click here to subscribe online.

If your subscription was done via newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, a default auto-renew function applies to selected package only. Your credit card will be billed for the agreed amount at the beginning of your subscription and at each time of expiry. If your package has no auto renewal, your are required to select package and purchase if you wish to renew.

Online subscription via Newsstand
If your subscription was done via Newsstand, log in here and click on My Account>My Subscriptions. Select your product due for renewal, then click the renew button.

Manual subscription
To renew your subscription manually, please contact Customer Service at 1300 88 7827. An administrative fee of RM20 applies for manual renewal. It is highly recommended that you to renew your subscription online.

Deleting ePaper Account

By deleting your account:

  • Your subscription to The Star ePaper will be terminated.
  • All your account information and associated personal data will be deleted.
  • And this will result in an immediate termination of your account.

YES! You may access once you have the username and password after redemption form the respective partnership promo that we have.

The trial period various form time to time and also depends on the partners we are working with. Please contact Customer Service at 1300 88 7827 for more information.

Yes, you can access previous issues of up to 30 days as long as you have an active ePaper subscriber account.

Delivery of the paper will take effect within a minimum of 5 to 7 working days (Manual / Redemption links / Road shows), upon clearance from STAR MEDIA GROUP BERHAD (formerly known as Star Publications [Malaysia] Berhad) and any collaborative partners.

A confirmation email will be sent to you within 7 working days. Please check both your Inbox and Spam folders. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact Customer Service at 1300 88 7827. An additional e-mail will be sent to you from Newsstand which allows you to perform any maintenance on your subscription.

The Star & Sinar ePaper Package

How to Sign-Up and Make Payment

For The Star, go to Newsstand to subscribe. For Sinar Harian, go to Google Play or App Store (Android or iOS devices) to download the app and subscribe. Please allow min. 5 working days to get the ePaper username and password for The Star and Sinar Harian.

For The Star, we accept cash, cheque and credit card. For payment via cash/cheque, please contact our Customer Service at 1300 88 7827. We encourage online subscription (click here to subscribe) where you will be able to sign up for the auto-renewal service.

The Star & Sinar Harian ePaper Package is selling at RM199/year.

Note: For this package, Sinar Harian is Central edition only. Please call Sinar Harian customer service at 03-5101 7509 or email at support.my@ookbee.com for edition changes.

Subscription Status

The Star will send you your ePaper username and password via email within 5 working days after The Star processes your subscriptions. Please check both your Inbox and Spam mail.

Please take note that Sinar Harian ePaper will only commence when you receive the username and password. It may be different from your The Star subscription’s commencement date.

A confirmation email will be sent to you within an hour after successful registration. Please check both your Inbox and Spam folders. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact Customer Service at 1300 88 7827.

Renewal

You may choose to renew to any of the packages offered at Newsstand.

For Sinar Harian, you can use the app simultaneously up to 6 devices. Each device must be authorized with your Ookbee ID

The Star ePaper
First, de-authorise your old device or log in to your account at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, and click on My Account>Press Reader to de-authorise your old device. Then, download The Star ePaper app to your new device and authorise it using your username and password.

Sinar Harian ePaper
First, log out from your old device and download the Sinar Harian apps to your new device. Log in using the same account email and password. Click on Login>Enter email address and Password.You may also visit this page for more info.

Your device must be connected to the internet if you are browsing the ePaper via web browser.

If you’re reading your Star ePaper from your app, internet connection is only required during the downloading of issues, using audio reader and sharing article. Once download is complete, you can read the ePaper offline.

The download duration will depend on your broadband connection speed. As a guide, a high speed broadband with 5Mbps will take less than 5 minutes to completely download the ePaper.

De-authorise your unused device. Log in to your account at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, and go to My Account>Press Reader, to de-authorise your unused device. Then, authorise your account with your preferred device.

If you did not receive the email, please check your Spam folder just in case the confirmation email is redirected.

Cancellation and Refund

No. There will be no refund for early termination.

No. There will be no changing of subscription package until your current subscription expires.

Deleting ePaper Account

By deleting your account:

  • Your subscription to The Star ePaper will be terminated.
  • All your account information and associated personal data will be deleted.
  • And this will result in an immediate termination of your account.

Kuntum

  • To subscribe to Kuntum:
    • Select the ‘PRODUCTS’ tab on the menu bar of this Newsstand site
    • On the PRODUCTS page, select ‘Kuntum’
    • On the Kuntum page, select ‘One-year subscription’. Select the ‘auto-renewal’ option if you wish to have a recurring subscription, and proceed to BUY.
    • Fill in your details to create your own Newsstand account.
    • Pay via Credit Card or online transfer (Online transfer is not applicable for auto-renewal).
    • Once you have completed the registration and payment process, a confirmation email shall be sent to you and that’s it! Your first copy of KUNTUM should arrive within 45 days.
  • To renew your Kuntum subscription:

Subscription will commence within 4-6 weeks from the date of receipt of subscription form.

You will receive 11 issues per year. The final issue will be in November. There will be no publication in December.

Your first copy will arrive within 45 days from your confirmed order. Subsequent copies of Kuntum shall arrive to you within the first week of each month.

It depends on the promotion package at that period of subscription. The FREE gift is only for subscribers in Malaysia.

The magazine will be delivered to you via mail/hand delivered or by post. Whereas the gift will be hand delivered or via registered mail.

Auto-Renewal

All about Auto-Renewal

  • Auto-renewal is a service provided by Newsstand. All subscribers who subscribe via Newsstand can opt for this service.When you opt-in for auto-renewal, your subscription will automatically renew when it expires.
  • This will save you the time and effort of renewing every time before your subscription expires.Please be informed that for subscriptions expiring between 16th September 2015 and 30th November 2015, auto-renewal is not applicable.
  • Kindly renew as usual at Newsstand and check auto-renewal during checkout. Thereafter your subscription will be automatically renewed without further effort on your part.

  • All the Bundle packages except for the Star-Sin Chew bundle, the ePaper standalone packages and magazines can be set to auto renew. Please click here for the Bundle package, here for the ePaper standalone package and here for the magazines.
  • If you are an existing subscriber and would like to renew, please login to Newsstand to check for the renewal package price. If you are unable to remember your password, click on forgot password and you will be guided on how to reset your password.

  • No. Auto-renewal depends on a valid credit or debit card. For auto-renewal a Mastercard or Visa is necessary.

  • If you are a new subscriber or you are renewing, you can opt-in during payment just before checkout. Tick the box marked ‘Auto Renewal’.
  • If your subscription is still active, you can login to your account at Newsstand and opt-in for auto-renewal at My Accoun t page.
Please note: When you opt-in for auto-renewal for the first time, you will be requested to fill in your credit-card information. This is a one-time process for verification only. You will not be charged unless you are renewing. You will receive a notification stating that your card was charged RM1. This is only to test your card’s validity and will be refunded to you.
  • To opt-out, make sure that during payment the ‘Auto Renewal’ box is empty. For existing subscriber, please follow the step mentioned above and ensure the auto-renewal box is not ticked.

  • Yes! The auto-renewal service is free of charge.
  • When you opt-in for the first time, you will be requested to complete a one-time verification process that includes filling out your credit card details. You will receive a notification that iPay has charged you RM1. Don’t worry, this is only to verify that your card is valid. Your RM1 will be refunded.
  • Once you have completed binding your card, please proceed to renew. You can then check on auto-renewal and your subscription will automatically renew itself as long as your card is active and valid.

  • No. It is a one-time process. You can opt-out and opt-in as per your needs. However, if you change your credit card, you will have to update your credit card details and go through the verification process again.

  • Active subscription: Yes. You may do so at any time via your Newsstand account.

  • Expired subscription: It is advisable to renew at Newsstand and opt-in before checking out for payment.

No. You can only subscribe or renew through your vendor. Opt-in can only be done online.

  • For all subscriptions except for 1-month ePaper standalone, your card will be charged 2 weeks before the subscription expires.
  • For 1-month ePaper standalone, your card will be charged 4 days before the subscription expires.

  • 1-year subscription: 2 months (first time) and 1 month (second time) before expiry
  • 6-months subscription: please see above
  • 1-month subscription: 7 days before expiry

  • No. You are advised to opt-out before your subscription expires. If you are not sure when your subscription will expire, please login to Newsstand and check your package details. You can also opt-out when you receive reminders from us.

  • No. Auto-renewal is only applicable for lump sum payments.

  • In this situation, please login to Newsstand and renew your subscription as normal. Tick the auto-renewal box before checkout.

  • Please login to Newsstand, go to the My Account page and update your new credit card details. You will be requested to fill in your credit-card information. This is a one-time process for verification only.

It depend on the deal that offer by our partners. Each of our partners are from different category and they have their own redemption method. Kindly refer to the T&C in the eVoucher as it has the information there.

For example, an eCommerce promo code will required you to register an account in order to use the discount from your purchase and for F&B outlet, you only required to make reservation.

Each deal will have a redemption validity period from the date you redeem the eVoucher. The date will be stated under the eVoucher T&C and make sure to utilize the eVoucher before it’s expired.

No. Once your eVoucher has expired, partners will not accept it anymore. Kindly look for other deals that we have for you for other deals.
